Single Elimination Bracket Generator
Bracket Generator is a free single elimination bracket generator that turns a plain list of names into a clean, print-ready tournament bracket. Paste your players or teams — one per line — and it fills in the match-ups, adds byes automatically for any number of entrants, and hands you a PNG to download. No sign-up, no account, no watermark. Everything runs in your browser, so your list is never uploaded anywhere.
Paste your players or teams above — one name per line — and tap Generate bracket. Byes are added automatically for any number of entrants, match-ups can be shuffled, and you can download the finished bracket as a PNG. Nothing is uploaded.

A single elimination bracket is the classic knockout format: lose once and you're out, win and you advance, until one entrant is left standing. This tool takes any list of 3 to 128 names and builds that bracket for you — no spreadsheet, no manual line-drawing. It works for ping-pong ladders, gaming tournaments, office pools, classroom competitions, fantasy drafts, and anything else you'd run as a knockout.
Because it's single elimination only, it stays simple and fast: paste names, get a bracket. There's no double-elimination losers bracket and no round-robin schedule to configure — just the straight knockout tree that most casual tournaments actually use.
How to Make a Bracket Online From a Name List
Making a bracket online is three steps and takes a few seconds:
- Open capsuletools.app/bracket-generator/
- Paste your participants into the box, one name per line
- Optionally add a tournament title and choose whether to shuffle
- Tap Generate bracket — your single elimination bracket appears instantly
The bracket scrolls sideways so even a 64- or 128-player field fits on a phone screen. Tap Reshuffle to redraw the match-ups, or go Back to edit your list and regenerate.
Byes and Match-Up Shuffling, Explained
A single elimination bracket needs a number of slots that's a power of two — 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128. When your entrant count isn't one of those (say you have 5, 6, or 13 players), some entrants get a bye: a free pass into the second round with no first-round opponent. This bracket generator calculates the byes for you and gives them to the top seed positions, spread across the bracket, so no first-round match is ever an empty bye-versus-bye.
With Shuffle participants on (the default), the tool acts as a random bracket generator with names — it randomizes the seeding with a fair shuffle before laying out the bracket, so the first-round match-ups are drawn at random. Turn shuffle off to keep your own order: line 1 becomes the top seed, line 2 the next, and so on, which is handy when you've already ranked your entrants.
Download Your Bracket as a Printable PNG
When the bracket looks right, tap Download PNG. You get a high-resolution image of the whole bracket drawn on a clean white sheet — which is what makes this a free printable bracket generator: pin the image to a wall, share it in a group chat, or drop it into a slide. Because it's a plain image, you can print your bracket from any phone or computer without special software.
The export is generated on your device from the on-screen bracket, so what you see is exactly what you download — title included, at full resolution.
Why a Free Bracket Maker With No Sign-Up
Most online bracket makers ask you to create an account before you can save or share anything. Bracket Generator doesn't. It's a free bracket maker with no sign-up: there's no login, no email capture, and no watermark stamped on your image. The whole tool loads once and then runs locally in your browser tab, which is also why your list of names stays private — it never gets sent to a server.
You can even add it to your home screen and use it like an installed app. It still works the same way: paste, generate, download — free, every time.
Frequently asked questions
Is this bracket maker really free with no sign-up?
Yes. Bracket Generator is completely free with no sign-up and no account. You paste your names, generate the bracket, and download it — there's no login wall, no email required, and no watermark on the image. It runs entirely in your browser, so nothing you type is uploaded to a server.
Can I make a random bracket generator with names?
Yes — that's exactly what it does. Paste your list of names, one per line, and leave Shuffle participants on. The tool randomizes the match-ups with a fair Fisher–Yates shuffle so the first-round pairings are drawn at random, then lays the names into a single elimination bracket. Turn Shuffle off if you'd rather keep your own seeding order.
Is there a single elimination bracket generator that's completely free?
This is one. Bracket Generator makes single elimination brackets for any number of participants from 3 to 128, free and with no sign-up. Byes are added automatically when your entrant count isn't a power of two, and the finished bracket downloads as a PNG image at no cost.
Can I print my bracket after I generate it?
Yes. Tap Download PNG to save the bracket as a high-resolution image, then print that image from your phone or computer like any photo. Because the bracket is drawn on a clean white sheet, it prints clearly in black and white or colour without wasting ink on a dark background.
How do I make a bracket online free?
Open Bracket Generator, paste your players or teams one per line, optionally add a tournament title, and tap Generate bracket. The single elimination bracket appears instantly with byes and match-ups filled in. Tap Download PNG to save it. No account, no software to install, and nothing is uploaded.
Can I use this bracket generator app on my phone?
Yes. In your phone browser, choose Add to Home Screen and Bracket Generator installs like an app, with its own icon. It still runs entirely on your device, so you can build brackets without an account and without your list ever leaving your phone.
