Factorio Blueprint Mirror
Blueprint Mirror is a free Factorio blueprint mirror — paste a blueprint string and flip it horizontally or vertically without opening the game or installing a mod. Nothing is uploaded. The string is decoded, mirrored, and re-encoded entirely in your browser.
How to Mirror a Factorio Blueprint String
- Paste the blueprint string — copied from Factorio's blueprint library, or from a forum post, Discord message, or Factorio Prints link
- Tap Flip Horizontal or Flip Vertical
- The textarea updates instantly with the mirrored string — tap Copy and import it back into Factorio as a new blueprint
The tool decodes the string (base64 + zlib), reflects every entity's position and facing across the chosen axis, and re-encodes it — the same format Factorio itself reads, so the result pastes straight into your blueprint library.
Flip Horizontally vs. Flip Vertically
Flip Horizontal mirrors the blueprint left-to-right, like flipping a photo across a vertical line down the middle — a factory that expanded east now expands west. Flip Vertical mirrors it top-to-bottom instead, across a horizontal line — what pointed north now points south. Belts, inserters, and other directional entities are rotated to face the correct mirrored way in both cases, not just repositioned.
Why Mirror the Blueprint String Instead of Using the In-Game Flip
Factorio 2.0 added a native flip hotkey (H to mirror horizontally, V vertically — 1.1 uses F/G), but it only works on a blueprint you're actively holding and about to place in-game. It doesn't help with a blueprint string someone shared with you as text on a forum, in Discord, or on Factorio Prints, and it's no help at all if you're still on 1.1 without the hotkey. A third-party mod can flip a string, but installing one disables Steam achievements for that save. Blueprint Mirror flips the exported string itself, in the browser, before you ever import it — no mods, no achievements lost, no game required.
Entities That Don't Mirror Cleanly
Blueprint Mirror reflects every entity's position and 8-way facing correctly, which covers the vast majority of factory builds. Two cases are worth checking after import: rail networks can end up with a curve that doesn't connect the way you expect, since a mirrored rail layout is a genuinely different track shape and may need a manual nudge in-game; and trains (locomotives and wagons) keep their original heading, since a train's orientation isn't stored the same way as a building's facing. Everything else — belts, inserters, assemblers, pipes, walls, and the rest — mirrors exactly.
Frequently asked questions
How do I mirror a Factorio blueprint?
Open Blueprint Mirror, paste the blueprint string you copied from Factorio (or from a forum post, Discord message, or Factorio Prints), and tap Flip Horizontal or Flip Vertical. The mirrored string replaces the text instantly — tap Copy and paste it back into your Factorio blueprint library. Nothing is uploaded; the decode and re-encode happen entirely in your browser.
Can you mirror blueprints in Factorio?
Yes, two ways. In-game, Factorio 2.0 added native flip hotkeys (H and V) for a blueprint you're actively holding and about to place. But that only works on a blueprint you already have loaded in-game — it does nothing for a blueprint string someone shared with you as text. Blueprint Mirror flips the string itself, so you can mirror it before you ever import it.
How do I flip a blueprint horizontally in Factorio?
Paste the blueprint string into Blueprint Mirror and tap Flip Horizontal. Every entity's left/right position is mirrored across a vertical axis, and directional entities like belts and inserters are rotated to face the correct mirrored way. Copy the result and import it into Factorio as usual.
How do I flip a blueprint vertically in Factorio?
Paste the blueprint string into Blueprint Mirror and tap Flip Vertical. Every entity's top/bottom position is mirrored across a horizontal axis, with directional entities rotated to match. Copy the mirrored string and paste it into a new blueprint in-game.
What's the keyboard shortcut to flip a blueprint in Factorio?
In Factorio 2.0, it's H to flip horizontally and V to flip vertically while holding a blueprint (1.1 uses F and G). That shortcut only works on a blueprint you're actively holding in-game, though — it can't touch a blueprint string sitting in a text file, forum post, or Discord message. Blueprint Mirror flips the exported string directly, so you don't need to open Factorio at all.
Is mirroring the same as rotating a blueprint in Factorio?
No. Mirroring reflects a blueprint across an axis, like flipping a photo — left becomes right, or top becomes bottom, and the layout is a mirror image of itself. Rotating spins the whole blueprint around its center instead, keeping it non-mirrored. Blueprint Mirror only mirrors (horizontal or vertical); it doesn't rotate.
